A great place to work: The results are in from our recent staff survey

Here at Juno, recruiting, retaining and nurturing brilliant people and teams isn’t just an organisational priority, it’s at the heart of how we support children to thrive. The skills, compassion and commitment of our staff are key to achieving our vision – that children growing up in residential care can find brilliant homes where they feel safe, loved and supported.

We often talk about the importance of listening to children and care-experienced young people. This is no different when it comes to our staff. Really listening to the people who deliver our work every day helps us understand what it truly feels like to be a part of Juno, what’s working well, what could be better, and what support makes the biggest difference.

At Juno, our staff survey is just one way that we listen. Throughout the year, we ask our teams to provide open and honest feedback to help us learn, grow and improve the way we do things as an organisation.

In late September, we ran our latest staff survey, and the results are in!

Celebrating success

“Since joining Juno, I’ve felt so welcomed into every home I’ve worked in. The management and staff have been so supportive. It’s been an amazing experience so far.”

We’re committed to making sure Juno is a place where our staff can thrive, where they feel valued and supported.

So, we’re extremely proud to hear that a huge 100% of our team said that they’d recommend Juno as a great place to work. And that wasn’t the only perfect score. Every respondent also told us that they’re clear on their role at Juno, and they know what’s expected of them. This clarity really matters. When people feel confident and clear in their role, they’re better equipped to focus on what’s most important – supporting children to flourish and dream big.

We exist to make sure that children feel safe, loved and supported. 96% of our staff told us that we’re doing just that, telling us that they feel like they’re ‘supporting children to live their best lives’.

Room for Improvement

We know that we won’t always get everything right all of the time. Despite overwhelmingly positive feedback, responses to our survey also identified some room for improvement.

20% of staff told us that we could get better at listening, particularly around how we ask for their views and ideas to help shape Juno’s direction. We also heard that we could improve our admin systems and get better at celebrating the successes of the team.

We’re grateful for this honesty. This insight gives us a clear focus for how we can make Juno an even better place to work, from more regular opportunities to feedback, to putting plans in place to spotlight and celebrate success more consistently across our homes.

“Our staff survey is just one measure of how we’re doing, but it’s an important one – particularly as it’s anonymous and gives us a good idea of what our culture is really like. So it was heartening to see what staff had to say: that all the things we’ve put into place mean they feel they make a difference, are supported, and that this is a genuinely good place to work. There’s still more we can do, but it’s reassuring to hear we are on the right track.” - Paul Simon, Support Services Manager.
