Who we are

Juno started with an idea. That things could – and should – be done differently for the benefit of local, care-experienced young people. So, We’re on a mission to transform the landscape of children’s residential care in the Liverpool City Region.

We’ve been working with partners, funders and local authorities to develop a network of high-quality, not-for-profit homes that place the needs of children and young people front and centre.
A bit of background
There are currently around 83,00 children in care in England. Many of these children are growing up in a system that denies the stability, security and safety that underpins a happy childhood.

Far too many children in England have a poor experience when they become looked after. Rather than receiving the love and support they need, many children are sent away from their communities, placed in care environments that can't meet their needs and suffer further relationship breakdowns. Since 2019, we've been working to address this problem in the Liverpool City Region by creating high-quality children’s residential homes where children feel safe, loved and supported.

Juno was co-designed with local authorities, care-experienced young people and delivery partners to ensure that the model was responsive to local challenges, and most importantly, able to meet the needs of young people.
Our Vision
Children growing up in residential care in the Liverpool City Region find brilliant, local homes where they feel safe, supported and loved.
Children's emotional, physical, spiritual and educational needs are fully met by a strong, loving tribe of skilled adults around them.
Residential care is no longer seen as “the last resort” option for children who can’t live with their families, but as a great, effective choice for some children.

Our Mission
To bring our vision to life, Juno is creating a community of high-quality, not-for-profit homes that transform opportunities for children growing up in the care system.

While our practice model focuses on producing great outcomes for children, our business model will disrupt existing models of residential care that are not serving the children they support and reduce profiteering in the sector.

We’re opening ten homes across the Liverpool City Region over the next five years, sharing our learning as we go to influence how others care for children.
