Join Juno as an Expert by Experience

Juno was born out of the views and insights shared by care-experienced young people in 2020. Since then, we’ve remained committed to spending a lot of time talking, sharing, thinking (and rethinking) about what great quality care looks like with care-experienced people. We believe it’s the right time to take this engagement work to the next level, and we are recruiting a team of Experts by Experience.

The Role

Place of work: Liverpool City Region (Head office in Liverpool City Centre)

Remuneration: £12 per hour

Hours: Flexible, typically ranging between 5 and 15 hours per month

Here at Juno, we’re committed to making residential care a great place to grow up. We’re creating homes across the Liverpool City Region that young people can be proud of, where they know they’ll be safe and loved, and that give them the confidence, skills and relationships to become the amazing adults they were born to be.

Juno was born out of the views and insights shared by care-experienced young people in 2020. Since then, we’ve remained committed to spending a lot of time talking, sharing, thinking (and rethinking) about what great quality care looks like with care experienced people, and initially set up an informal group of Young Leaders, who have worked really hard alongside staff to help us make critical decisions about our plans, our people and our homes.

In agreement with this group, we believe it’s the right time to take this engagement work to the next level, and we think recruiting a team of Experts by Experience is the right step forward.

Juno Experts by Experience will have experience of being in care and will draw on their unique life experiences to influence, advise and support Juno staff so that we deliver brilliant quality care for children and young people.

We firmly believe that working alongside Experts by Experience will improve how we plan, make decisions and respond to challenges. Individuals in this role will work closely with Juno’s senior management team, sharing their ideas, perspectives and advice to strengthen key areas of our work, such as recruitment, home-making and staff training.

  • Create respectful environments where others feel safe to share their perspectives too.

  • Participate in Juno recruitment processes, observing candidates and sharing your views to ensure we recruit new colleagues with the right values, skills and experiences to care for children.

  • Meet with new staff and play a role in their initial induction and training.

  • Take part in quarterly learning sessions where we reflect, problem solve and share ideas in response to organisational challenges or new opportunities.

  • Work with Juno staff to design and create welcoming and safe home environments for children.
